Things to Do with Kids in St Ives During February Half-Term

February half term in St Ives is a lovely time to enjoy fresh sea air, quieter beaches and relaxed family days. As a mother of three, I’m always thinking ahead about how to keep the kids entertained during the school holidays, especially when the weather can be a bit unpredictable.

Here are our suggestions below for things to do with kids during February half term, all tried and tested family favourites that help make holiday time simple, fun and stress-free.

St Ives Surf School

Surfing in February might sound brave, but kids absolutely love it. St Ives Surf School provides thick wetsuits, boots and gloves, so everyone stays warm while having fun. Lessons are tailored to children and beginners, focusing on confidence and enjoyment rather than perfection. Even if the waves are small, just getting into the sea is an adventure in itself.

St Ives Leisure Centre

The St Ives Leisure Centre is a real lifesaver during February half-term, especially on cooler or rainy days. The Aqua Splash sessions, which usually run on one of the holiday days, are well worth looking out for, you can find the details on the Better St Ives website. The large inflatables in the main pool are always a huge hit with children, offering lots of splashing, laughter and energy-burning fun. It’s an activity that works well for a wide range of ages and almost guarantees happy, tired kids afterwards.

Tate St Ives Family Sessions

Tate St Ives Family Sessions usually run during the school holidays and are a lovely way to slow things down.
These relaxed art activities encourage children to get creative, experiment with materials and respond to the exhibitions in their own way, no art experience needed.

Paradise Park

A trip to Paradise Park is a brilliant day out for animal-loving families. Children will enjoy spotting colourful birds, exploring the play areas and making the most of the open spaces where they can run around freely. During the school holidays, Paradise Park usually puts on a fun trail, with a small sweet prize waiting at the end, always a big hit with younger visitors. The indoor JungleBarn, with its drop slides and soft play areas, is perfect for burning off extra energy, especially if the weather isn’t on your side. It’s a relaxed, family-friendly attraction that works well for children of different ages.

St Ives Theatre

If your kids love K-POP, this show at the
St Ives Theatre is a real treat. Our daughter is absolutely crazy about K-POP Demon Hunters, so this one immediately caught our eye, and if your children are the same, they’ll love it too.

It’s a high-energy celebration of all things K-POP, with impressive dance routines, big songs and colourful visuals inspired by some of the most popular artists and moments. It feels fun, exciting and easy to enjoy, whether your child is a huge fan or just starting to discover K-POP. Expect lots of energy, familiar favourites and plenty of moments that will have kids smiling, singing along and talking about it long after the show ends.

Horse Riding at Standing Stone Stables

Standing Stone Stables offers gentle horse-riding experiences that are perfect for children. Nestled in the beautiful St Ives countryside, the stables have a range of ponies to suit everyone, from total beginners to more experienced riders.
Our daughter has been riding for years, and she absolutely loved her time here. The instructors are friendly and patient, making it a safe and enjoyable experience for all ages. The countryside trails are stunning, giving children a real sense of freedom as they trot along the paths.
Whether it’s your child’s first ride or they’re already confident in the saddle, we would totally recommend Standing Stone Stables as a fun and memorable family activity during February half term. It’s one of those experiences the kids remember long after the holiday ends.

Penwith Pitch & Putt, A Family Favourite

February-half-term-hayle-crazy-golf

Penwith Pitch & Putt is a great family day out just a short drive from St Ives. It’s a lovely, family-run business and one we always recommend to other families. The football golf is brilliant fun and works so well for all ages, while the crazy golf is great for a bit of light-hearted competition.

It’s also dog-friendly, with dogs welcome on leads, which makes it even easier for a relaxed family outing. The cute little play park is perfect for younger children.
There’s a lovely little coffee shop on site too, serving delicious cakes and drinks.
